Conversion of your manuscript to ePub and Mobi/Kindle formats
Most of our online bookstores accept the ePub format for e-books they sell, except for Amazon’s Kindle that uses a version of Mobipocket. We convert your Microsoft Word file to both of these formats.
CONVERSION OF MANUSCRIPT TO EPUB FORMAT.
ePub is an acronym for electronic publishing. ePub became an official standard of the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) in September 2007. ePub is the software that is used by Barnes & Noble NOOK ™, Kobo.com, Apple’s iBookstore, iPad, iPhone, and iPodTouch and smartphones that use Android technologies.
We can generally complete the ePub files conversion services in ten (10) business days following receipt and approval of your edited and approved manuscript.
CONVERSION OF MANUSCRIPT TO MOBI/KINDLE FORMAT.
The Mobipocket technology is utilized in the Kindle® e-Book reader, with a proprietary format known as AZW, with optional Digital Rights Management (DRM)* embedded in the software. Because the Kindle® eBooks are delivered over its wireless system known as the Whispernet, the user does not see the AZW files during the downloading process.
*DRM technologies attempt to control use of digital media by preventing access, copying or conversion to other formats by end users.
We can generally complete the Mobi/Kindle conversion services in ten (10) business days following receipt and approval of your edited and approved manuscript.
You can follow the progress of your manuscript conversion by clicking on the “My Projects” icon in your Authorlog™ Account. When you do so, the status will be “Conversion Ready,” “Delivery Ready,” “Encoding Requested,” or “Delivered.”
- “Conversion Ready” means that your manuscript has met our Manuscript Guidelines and is ready for conversion to Mobipocket/Kindle and ePub formats.
- “Delivery Ready” means your manuscript has completed the eBook conversion process, and will be delivered to the eBook retailer within approximately five (5) business days from the completion date.
- “Encoding Requested” means your eBook has been delivered to the eBook retailer, and they have asked for additional technical or metadata information. If we are unable to provide the information based on the information you provided, you will be contacted.
- “Delivered” means your eBook has been delivered to the eBookstore.
Because your manuscript may receive a proofread or other edit by our editors [Depending on the AuthorServicePaK™ or optional advanced editing you choose] all manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc, docx formats only, please). Our editors use the “Review” protocols of this program.
